Welcome To Speech Language Pathology

Greetings and welcome to our website. The field of Speech Language Pathology is an exciting one, and there are many interesting avenues to explore. Here, we hope to encompass all aspects of the field, from education, and training to research and employment. Speech Language Pathologists, or SLPs, work to assist in diagnosis and treatment of sound disorders. They often work closely with other special education specialists, such as audiologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, psychologists, and recreational therapists.

According to statistics furnished by the United States Department of Labor, demands for SLPs are projected to increase over 19% over the next decade. This need will be met with a new generation of qualified speech language therapists as well as speech language pathology assistants (SLPAs). These employment opportunities will be found in educational services, healthcare facilities, and private settings. As of May 2008, the average salary for an SLP was around $63,000.
